It may have been around the MeToo movement and up to the pandemic that I had topped watching award shows. Things were too political, and the jokes weren’t funny. I mean not that they weren’t political before because hello Hollywood, I just didn’t like that every acceptance speech was a rant about something. Again, this is just my opinion. I’m just not down for that. I want to know who is wearing what, who arrived with who, and I want photos of the after parties. Oh, the photos!! I would spend days after each award show combing through all of them.
This Sunday not only did I watch the Oscars, but I also went to old faithful E! Entertainment and watched their pre-carpet show, now called Brunch at the Oscars. I thought, you know I watched the ENTIRE Super Bowl, so why not. Oh, how I missed it. The moment I saw Sofia Carson and all her glory step out of her SUV and on to the champaign (yeah, I know it’s not red anymore!) carpet, I was hooked. I vowed that next year I would try to watch as many films as I could and try to catch all the major award shows.
Of the 10 films nominated, I had only seen Maverick and Elvis, which each has a dedicated blog post. I will say even though I wanted Elvis to win Best Picture, I’m so happy that the big winner of the night was Everything Everywhere All At Once. The title alone amazes me, I don’t know why but anyway I need to see it ASAP. Overall, I loved the show, I'm happy with the winners, and I'm happy to be back.
One thing I will say is that I miss hosts like Billy Crystal and even Ellen DeGeneres. They added an extra special touch to the evening. But this is me getting back into it with a renewed zest for award shows. After all the best season is awards season.
Anyway I can go and on and on but before I end this post, I need to call out the fashion. And for those want to know, these were my favorite looks of the evening so far! I mean I haven't seen the Vanity Affair pics yet!
