Here are some of the books I read this summer that I really enjoyed. I wish I could have a more rounded out list. They are in no particular order, well except #1.
1. “The Last Dress from Paris” by Jade Beer – I enjoyed this book so much. It took so many turns; I didn’t get bored. And the fact that Christian Dior dresses played a role is a plus.
2. Blue Moon series by Lucy Score. – This one really tied with 1st place. It’s really written like a rom-com movie. The men in this series are amazing. The women spectacular. But the real star of the show is the town. I wish this place really existed because I would buy a one-way ticket there.
3. “The Last Collection” by Jeanne Mackin – This book was really good. It’s the story of Elsa Schiaparelli and Coco Chanel in pre-war Paris. Two women who’s view on fashion could not be more different.
4. “Beach Read” by Emily Henry – Cutesy read if you want something lite. Two authors who happen to go to college together and end up as neighbors one Summer.
5. “People We Meet on Vacation” by Emily Henry – Another lite read about 2 friends who used to vacation every Summer together until one Summer when they crossed that proverbial line.
6. “Caviar Dreams, Tuna Fish Budget” by Margaret Josephs – Margaret is one of my favorite Housewives from the Bravo franchises. She provides an interesting look into her upbringing that explains a lot.
7. “Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris/Mrs. Harris Goes to New York” by Paul Gallico – I was on vacation when this book was released. Thankfully the island I was on has the most amazing bookstore. So amazing in fact they have 2 locations! If you’re ever on Sanibel Island check out Gene’s Bookstore. Anyway, I wanted to read this book because I say the trailer for the movie, and it just looked so charming. I won’t tell you too much only to say that it involves Christian Dior. If you haven’t read the book, it’s totally fine. They are a lot of differences, and you feel as if you’re missing something.
8. Karen Vail series by Alan Jacobson – The first book in the series is called “The 7th Victim”. This serious is so opposite from the rest of the books on this list, you’d think I’ve gone mad. It’s a great series. Vail is an FBI profiler and she’s an amazing character. If you’re into gruesome Law & Order type of stories this would be up your street.
