I never considered myself much a reader. That's more of my brother's thing being the English professor that he is. I've rarely seen him without a book, even while he's on his daily walks. He even reads multiple at once. I mean like to read but not that much.
Then the pandemic hit and suddenly, the million of shows I liked to watch were put on hold and I was left with finding another form entertainment and I found that and more in books. I reread books that I remember enjoying and still found the same joy, albeit with maybe different perspectives. I found myself becoming part of these books, the places, the characters. I can honestly say, I LOVE to read.
My friends and I have sort formed a book club not a book club club. I just read 2 books that were part of the "club" and they were amazing and such a change from the typical books I read. So I thought, why not share all of the books I love in a blog! Here they are, in no particular order:
Nora Roberts - The Bridal Quartet: OMG how I love these books!! I've read this series 4 times now, it's just timeless. Four girl friends who grew up together and started a wedding planning company. They each have their own part of the business and I honestly can't decide which one is my favorite story. This was my first departure from the usual supernatural-themed books I normally read. And it was refreshing and I've loved Nora Roberts since!
Nora Roberts - Inn Boonsboro Trilogy: Cute story of 3 brothers who run a bed and breakfast in their hometown. These stories are sexy, classy, and even include a ghost!
Bella Andre - The Sullivans: Now be warned, there are 9 books in this series plus they spin off into other books because this family is huge. I've read these books several times and love them all. Of course there are some stories (ahem, Marcus) that I love more but these books are amazing and a wonderful world to escape into.
Bella Andre and Jennifer Skully - The Maverick Billionaires (7 books). Amazing story of a group of friends that came together when they were young and became family. Again, another fun quick read.
Nora Roberts Blood Magick (The Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy): I was so thrilled when I found this series. If you know me I love a story about vampires and witches and so much more. This is about a family of witches and how they come together to fight off dark magic.
Deborah Harkness All Souls Trilogy: These books are so amazing and yes they are about witches again. This one is special because the Sundance channel actually made a series based on the books! I've only been able to catch the first season but I plan on binge-watching them from the beginning now that the series as ended.
Britney Sahin: Oh wow oh wow are her books AMAZING. Another departure from the world of witches and amazing families to a different world. Now, the men in these books can only be described as "too hot to be real". The first series, The Stealth Ops, takes you into the world of an off-the-books black Ops SEAL team. Each book in the series (warning: 10 books) is better than the last. The way she writes these stories and how she entwines these characters is beyond words. She also introduces other characters that have their own spin-off books (can you say amazing crossover stories!!). Check our Stealth Ops first and then jump into The Hidden Truths series and Dublin Nights. Make sure to read all the way to the end, she includes backstories, where the characters appear in other books, and even playlists based on the stories. AMAZING summer reads if you ask me.
Taylor Jenkins Reid - The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo: What a truly stunning read. Yes, I said stunning. I read this book in a day and not on my kindle. Not sure what but I felt like I needed to feel this book in my hands. I don't want to spoil any of it but it's truly an amazing book.
Sarah Penner - The Lost Apothecary: A Novel: This was a surprise to me. I read about this book in magazine (don't ask me which one because I don't remember). I actually smile when I think about this book. I remember finishing yet and saying, "Wow". It's a lovely story and so different than the other books, much like Evelyn Hugo.
Colleen Hoover - Verity: This one made the cut because, well, let's be real I couldn't leave the list off at 9 book...LOL...And also because this was a good book. It's a psychological thriller and while I didn't enjoy as much as Evelyn, it was still a good book with good twists.
The same friend that recommended Evelyn Hugo recommended Verity and has recommended a third book I have yet to pick up. But Boo has made 2 stellar recommendations so I'm pretty sure The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave will be another winner. Stay tuned to find out.
This is a long list but I think it's got a good mix stories. All of them can be found on Amazon. Let me know what you think.
