Given the types of books I read, this book kept being served as a recommendation. A book I’d like. Well, after seeing it pop up so many times as well as a friend sang its praises, I gave in. I am so happy that I did. What a world to be sucked in to.
Feyre, a nineteen-year-old huntress kills a wolf in the woods in order to provide for her family, she had no idea the chain reaction she was about to set in motion. A beast comes looking for her to get retribution and Feyre is taken into a magical world full of strange creatures and immortal faeries. The beast isn’t a beast at all but a faerie named Tamlin. The book gives major Beauty and the Beast vibes and I felt that it would be too similar but the story took twists and turns that I didn’t expect.
Now, I will admit that I wasn’t completely sold on the book in the first few chapters. Once Feyre was taken to this new land, Prythian, and you got past the Beauty and The Beast similarities, I was hooked. Fairies, magic, gorgeous creatures, what’s not to like? As Tamlin and Feyre spend more time together, the ice in her heart starts to melt and his heart of stone softens. Naturally a story like this isn’t the same without that charming and lovable character that helps push them along. Lucien is that character, he’s the Lumiere and Cogsworth of this story. As Tamlin and Feyre’s relationship grows, so does an evil shadow grow over the land. Tamlin, Feyre, and Lucien must fight to protect their people and the world as they know it.
I could not put this book down! I read it so fast because I knew there was another book waiting for me. If you’re into this type of book, I highly recommend you pick this one up. Read it, listen to it, whatever you’re into. Just do it. You won’t be disappointed. I mean magic and fairies, what’s not to like!
I give this book 5/5.
Well done!
